TORSION vs EXTENSION

Torsion Springs- torsion garage door springs will be your most traditional springs on hurricane rated garage doors. This being said, torsion springs tend to be the most equipped for the weight distribution amongst the sectional panels. Torsion springs are the safer alternative to extension springs.
Extension Springs- extension garage door springs are typically going to be springs that will be on older style doors, low headroom, etc. The operation of an extension spring fully expands when the door goes down, and contracts as the door goes up. If not installed properly, these springs can be extremely dangerous.
